Opening Soon: Teak Wood, Cuba Libre, Galileo III

Cuba Libre's grilled pineapple mojito.

The fall restaurant scene is heating up with several newcomers slated to launch in the next few weeks. (Casa Nonna opens today, in case you missed the news.)

From the owners of Regent Thai on 18th Street and Galae Thai in Alexandria comes Teak Wood, a spacious new Thai joint set to open this week at 1323 14th St. NW. Prince of Petworth has a few photos of the interior, including plenty of teak.

You'll have to wait a little longer for plates of ropa vieja washed down with copious amounts of rum in Penn Quarter. The opening of Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar has been pushed back a bit to Sept. 27. The nuevo Cuban restaurant, opening at 801A Ninth St. NW, will seat 200 people in a dining area modeled after an Old Havana courtyard. Look for lunch weekdays, dinner nightly and weekend brunch.

And though they're not taking reservations yet, Roberto Donna's long-awaited Galileo III could start serving Italian fare in the next 10 days in the old Butterfield 9 space at 600 14th St. NW. Stay tuned.
