15th Annual Dine Out For Life
What: Diners across the Washington metro region will be standing up
against HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses by sitting
down at one of 150 area restaurants March 10. Now in its 15th year, Food &
Friends’ annual Dining Out for Life enlists the benevolence of area
eateries – from Bethesda to Alexandria, from Falls Church to Dupont
Circle – in support of more than 2,800 people in our community who
benefit from Food & Friends’ nutrition services. Participating
restaurants contribute 25 to 110 percent of that day’s proceeds to directly
benefit Food & Friends’ programs and clients.
When: Thursday, March 10
Where: More than 100 participating restaurants
More: Last year, more than 25,000 diners, 145 restaurants and 200 volunteer
ambassadors participated in Dining Out for Life, raising more than
$270,000. In 2011, Food & Friends is thrilled to have 150
restaurants on board, including those that are donating their entire
evening’s proceeds to Food & Friends – Ristorante Tosca (100%),
Posto (100%) and Freddie's Beach Bar & Restaurant (110%), and seven
others who have pledged 50% or more of their proceeds. Please visit
www.foodandfriends.org/dol for a complete listing of participating
restaurants.
“Diners can easily make a huge impact on the lives of so many in need in our community simply by going out to dinner on March 10th,” says Food & Friends’ Executive Director Craig Shniderman. “Funds raised by big events like Dining Out for Life make it possible for us to serve thousands each day living with the challenges of HIV/AIDS, cancer and other debilitating illnesses.”
